Creating a course can be daunting. I know how overwhelming the entire process can feel and how most people just starting out think they need to break the bank to create a course but they don’t. Because guess what? Creating my first online course only cost me a few $100!
Welcome to the Marketing To Millions Podcast, I’m your host, Liz Boer! In this Quick-Tip episode, we’re covering strategies and low-cost tools that you can use to create and promote your online course.
[00:01 – 03:16] Intro To Creating A Course
- When it was my first time creating and selling a course, I bootstrapped the entire process. I had to be scrappy and resourceful while still being efficient to create and promote this new offer
[03:17 – 07:30] 3 Tools For Creating Courses
- Podia
- Podia offers a low-cost solution to easily create, market, and sell your content. Similar to Kajabi, but more affordable. Podia has student portal templates that you can customize
- Podia allows you to host your content and course materials like PDF workbooks, videos, and audio files, making selling your course super easy
- Create customized sales pages
- Canva
- Canva is a tool I use in my business almost every single day
- Create PDF workbooks, update templates, Instagram caption toolkits, and any graphic asset you need
- Invest in good design
- Beaver Builder
- A drag-and-drop WordPress page builder that lets you easily create drag-and-drop page layouts, all from a front-end view of your site and without touching a line of code
[07:31 – 11:14] Tools For Video Making
- . Teleprompter
- An app that allows you to write and read scripts so that you can speak fluently in front of your camera
- Pro Tip! Take advantage of your recording days by doing all your videos in batches! That way you can take advantage of getting ready and putting on your cute outfits
- Vimeo
- You will need a platform to host your video if you’re incorporating video into your course. Vimeo has both free and paid options that allow you to upload hosts and share your videos in high-quality HD. I prefer Vimeo because they offer privacy options to ensure only paying participants can see your videos
- WebinarKit
- If you plan to use a webinar to sell your offer. Having a tool to automate the process makes a huge difference. WebinarKit is currently offering a $72 one-time payment option. For those who have an on-demand evergreen offer, this might be for you. To increase your webinar show-up rates, be sure to select an evergreen webinar tool that allows you to send pre-webinar reminder emails and grants access to the webinar replay for each individual registrant.
- I also recommend Demio or Easy Webinar
[11:13 – 13:14] Email Service Providers I Recommend
- ConvertKit
- Allows you to automate your email sequences, launch funnels, and even create attractive landing pages
- Be one of the first 1000 subscribers to try ConvertKit for free by using my link here
[13:15 – 15:10] My Last Tips
- Before signing up for any new tool, I recommend doing a little bit of pre-planning. Most of these tools offer free trial periods. You can help your budget out by leveraging the free trial periods
